Skeletal modeling and reconstructing
LightWise smart camera enables skeletal modeling and reconstructing
Vision Systems Design – May 2008
Micro-Imaging Solutions turned to ISG for medical camera design expertise to create the first prototype of its digital disposable arthroscope.
The LightWise LW-1.3-S-1394 area camera is used by a European medical system manufacturer in their imaging system for dynamic human skeletal reconstruction and analysis. The LightWise camera was optimal for this demanding application, allowing the OEM to catch and reconstruct back surface properties such as curvature and symmetry. This allows the system to analyze, model and reconstruct various skeletal structures like the spine, scapula and pelvis. The performance of the camera allows the system to dynamically grab the surface with an adequate frequency.
The medical camera was chosen over competing solutions because of its flexible API, high frame rate and excellent picture quality and resolution. Additionally, the company’s aggressive pricing and value for the money enabled the customer to expand its market and provide more value to its end customers. The customer team praised the close working relationship between the their engineering team and its own software and hardware engineers.
“Their service and support is excellent,” said the project coordinator at the client company. “We look forward to a long rewarding relationship between our two companies.”
